Donald Lim Siang Chai, Deputy Minister of Finance of Malaysia. CHEN Xu, Senior Vice-President of Tsinghua University, GUO Liang, Secretary of Tsinghua University Alumni Association, and XIE Qihong, Associate Director of Executive Education at Tsinghua SEM all attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Lim said, China is one of Malaysia’s largest trading partners. In recent years, the trade volume between the two countries has been growing at an outstanding speed. Under this circumstance, Malaysia requires more and more financial and business talents whom possess a good understanding of the Chinese market. In 2011 and 2012, Tsinghua SEM successfully launched two consortiums of “Malaysia-China Economic Program for Senior Executives”. Lim highly appreciated the value of this program and hoped it could continue to promote the bilateral academic and economic relations between China and Malaysia.

On February 19, the Tsinghua delegation visited the Securities Commission of Malaysia and held talks with Goh Ching Yin, Executive Director of Strategy and Development. Goh highly values the cooperation between Securities Commission Malaysia and Tsinghua SEM. He thinks that the outstanding faculty and alumni resources of Tsinghua could largely lead Sino-Malaysian relationship into a new stage. Goh once participated in the “Malaysia-China Economic Program for Senior Executives” and had in-depth discussion with Tsinghua SEM professors, including Professor LI Daokui. Goh also wished to return to SEM in the near future to have further discussion with the leading academics. He also hoped this program could last and breed more talents in the financial field.

In the evening, under the support of Tsinghua SEM’s Malaysian alumni, Tsinghua University Malaysian Alumni Association was founded in Kuala Lumpur.
