Tsinghua - INSEAD - ESCP Europe Jointly Offer Program for CIC

The “Corporate Governance” Program for China Investment Co., LTD (CIC) was held successfully from August 31 to September 14, 2012. The program was jointly organized by Executive Education, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University (Tsinghua SEM), INSEAD and ESCP Europe. A total of 24 participants, who are all board members of CIC, completed the program across Beijing, Fontainebleau town and Paris.

 

The program is designed to help participants understand foreign financial institutions in the corporate governance, the board of directors in operation of practical experience and fully absorb, in order to improve the domestic financial institutions corporate governance and the functioning of the board, for some of the corporate governance problem, to seek the effective solutions.

 

On August 31, the program held the opening ceremony in Tsinghua SEM. Mr. XUE Lei, Director of Executive Education of Tsinghua SEM, and Ms. XIE Qihong, Associate Director of Executive Education attended the ceremony. Mr. XUE said CIC is a very important partner of Tsinghua. The program just suits business development needs of CIC. He hopes all the participants could learn advanced experience and effective method in both INSEAD and ESCP Europe. Mr. DONG Shi, Director of China Construction Bank, sincerely wishes this program a great success. He hopes participants truly understand international views on corporate governance and suggestions in the efforts of the parties. Professor David Daokui LI, director of Center for China in the World Economy (CCWE) of Tsinghua SEM, and Professor YANG Bin, Senior Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM, then gave the lecture on “Chinese Economy Under International Background” and “China's Leading Enterprise Management Gene”, respectively.

 

                                                          

 

In France, full-time faculties of INSEAD, famous international scholars, experienced leaders from different industries of the world, senior board members share their wisdom in "corporate governance" with participants. Professor Timothy Rowley, Professor Gilles Hilary, and Professor Ludo Van der Heyden, as well as guest speakers Sand Aire Chief Investment Officer Mr. Marc Hendriks, Credit Suisse Chief Economist Ms. Valerie Plagnol talked about the subjects of "French bank reform", "Euro crisis", "How to avoid the decision-making mistakes", "Efficient communication mechanism among board members", etc. China Chief Representative of the Economist Group Mr. Xu Sitao led the class discussion and interaction with professors.

 

The participants also visited France's second largest bank group BPCE bank and its subordinate Natixis bank, sotheby's, France's second largest insurance company Generali. They communicated with enterprise executives face to face, and met with Dean of ESCP Europe Professor Edouard Husson and its Executive Education Director Professor Delphine Manceau. While the academic director of the program- ESCP Europe's professor Leon Laulusa shared his understanding on strategic performance, corporate governance and international financial problems, laying a foundation for further cooperation with CIC and Tsinghua.

 

CIC highly appraised the program development and implement. Participants said that the program has both theoretical knowledge sharing, also face-to-face Q&A. The multinational cooperation mode is also a new try for CIC. The success of the program implementation is attributed to Tsinghua’s rigorous attitude and close cooperation with world famous universities and international enterprises.
